BREAKING: Cody High School “Sheltering in Place” After Direct Threat

UPDATE: (8:05 a.m.) Cody Middle School is also in lockdown, and students on campus are sheltering in place.

Students at Cody High School are sheltering in place Wednesday morning (April 5) as a precautionary measure after “a direct threat” to the school was made on social media. Park County School District #6 sent a message to all families in the district alerting them of the situation.

Law enforcement officers are on campus. Students already at Cody High School are sheltering in place, being held in their first-period classes.

Park 6 Superintendent Vernon Orndorff asks parents to keep their children at home if they haven’t already left for school. Buses en route to Cody High School are currently “held up” at Cody Middle School.

This is the second time in one week Cody High School has received an active shooter threat, forcing a school lockdown. The first, on Monday, April 3, was a fraudulent call made as part of a “school shooting trend” on TikTok.

This is a developing story. More details will be published as information becomes available.
