New Conference Same Expectations For Warrior Boys Soccer

The 2023 Worland Warrior Soccer Team started to practice for the season on Monday at the Worland Middle School Gymnasium.

Like all the other Spring Sports in Worland, they too have been forced indoors to begin the season.

The team’s drills and conditioning are still able to take place.

Over 30 student-athletes are at the start of practice this season.

The Warrior Boys Soccer Team are 4 time State Wyoming 3A Champions, that’s 4 in a row (could be 5, but Covid-19 took a season).

Last season the Warriors were 17-0-1 with a tie to Powell Mid-Season.

Worland would win its fourth consecutive Championship with a 7-0 win over Torrington in the Title Match.

The Warriors will move from the West Conference to the East Conference this season losing the rivalry with Powell.

Buffalo, Douglas, Newcastle, Rawlins, and Torrington will begin new rivalries for the Warriors.

Worland will play home and home matches against new conference teams.

The Warriors will begin the season at the Gillette Jamboree and play 4A Campbell County in the opener and 4A Natrona County on the second day.

Worland will have to replace 8 Seniors including All-Conference and All-State players Jorey Anderson, and Jackson Wassum, along with the mentioned accolades the 2021 Wyoming Boys Soccer Gatorade Player of the Year and 2022 Upperclassman of the Year as well as a 1st Team All-American in Casper Colleges Cole Venable

The Warriors return 10  Seniors including Starting Goalie Kade Weber, Midfielder Carter Clark, Backer Trae Bennett, Forward Omar Deniz, and All-Conference, All-State, 2022 Underclassman of the Year, and Casper College Soccer Commit Court Gonsalez.

Worland will also return Seniors Omar Deniz, Tim Hamer, Tobias Driver, Bryce August, Kristian Brown, and Ethan Warren.

Eight Warriors are continuing with the Basketball team as they make a run at a State Championship of their own from March 9th thru the 11th.

Weber, Clark, Gonsalez as well as Juniors Owen Page and Tyshon Swalstad, Sophomores Masen Decker, Brody Thiel, and Bryan Caballero.

The Warriors Soccer Team will also have Junior Karsten Beccaria, Sophomores Drew Schneider, Ryan Deniz, Tillman Burns, Fisher Martinez, Keegan Busch, Roman Parra, Corbin Butte, Wyatt Diede, Luis Ramirez, Brandon Lepe-Morquecho, Lance Birdwell, and Teague Mann.

The Freshman Class includes Colt Weber, Cooper Cannon, Caden Clark, Kaden Schauble, Corban Martinez, Grant Page, Lucas Ramirez, Kolby Wall, Elias Mitchel, Aaven Jones, and Ben Mendenhall.

The Warrior’s expectations remain the same as every season. “get 1% better every day” says Coach Ron Overcast.

Worland is in a Drive for 5 this year.
